December 11Pam & Bev gettting some sewing done

Pam and Bev took advantage of the time together to get some sewing done. One of the ladies here in the Village loaned us her sewing machine so we could both sew. It was fun being able to sew together working on Christmas gifts. I also had a chance to get her hooked on making beaded bracelets. As if she needed another hobby!! Unfortunately, she had to go home today. We certainly will miss her, but her hubby will be glad to have her home!

December 1

Ron arrived on November 28 to be here for a couple days when Don has his surgery. It was great to see him! Don's surgery went well; they did keep him in the hospital overnight so it was nice for me to have a couple of my kids here with me.

Pam and Bev Decorating the Christmas Tree

November 26

Pam and I decided to get the Christmas decorations done while Don was able to get the boxes from under the house. It was fun having her here to help decorate - it has been many, many years since we have done that together!

November 24

Cookie & Bev - Thanksgiving dinner in EckertThanksgiving Sunset
Thanksgiving Day - we cooked the dinner here and took it up to Eckert to Cookie & Roy's. We had a nice visit and a pretty day for the drive. It has been many years since Pam got to spend Thanksgiving with her Aunt & Uncle! The sunset that evening was spectacular!

November 22

Pam arrived today to spend almost 3 weeks with us to help out while her Dad has surgery. She decided to come early and have Thanksgiving with us, which we certainly appreciated! It was wonderful having her here!!

November 10

Bev got the second injection in her back and they seem to be helping quite a bit. The pain isn't totally gone - but much better.

October 24

Our back yard

We have been enjoying a nice fall here in CO. Here is our backyard looking south towards the Colorado National Monument.

I (Bev) have decided that staying home for a winter sounds kinda' nice. We are keeping busy with our business work and the social activities here in the Village.

October 18

Village at Country Creek Entrance

The entrance to our Village is so pretty in the fall!

October 15

We decided to take a break from the computer and go up on Glade Park before the colored leaves are all gone. We asked Jane Moore to go with us and she gladly accepted the invitation. We left home about 10:15 and went up the west entrance of the monument stopping at the visitor's center for a break. We also stopped at the Independence Monument view area for a few pictures.

The it was on the Muddy Spring picnic area with a few stops along the way for pictures. It is almost too late for the best color although many of the aspen were still green while others were almost bare of leaves.  We decided to eat lunch at the picnic area near Fruita reservoir #1. Well, it was nearly full of people gathered for their quarterly dog training session. They were from several counties around the state and belonged to a Search and Rescue Dog organization. Just a mile or so before we got the the picnic area we saw 6 cow elk running along the hill beside the road. We were able to find an empty table and had a good lunch time.

From there we went on to Fruita Reservoir #3 and found that it had been drained; probably to clean out the silt and build-up over the years. Then it was on back down the road to Enoch Lake. Along the way near cattle corrals, we saw many bluebirds but were unable to get any pictures because they kept flying around. The lake was rather disappointing because it was quite muddy and not pretty at all.

From there we headed back home, arriving about 4:30. It was a nice get-away on a near perfect day; nice and warm with blue skies. We drove a total of 77 miles.

September 28

We decided to take a trip up over Grand Mesa to see the pretty fall colors.  The views from up there are usually spectacular in the fall!  We stopped by to visit Cookie & Roy for awhile on the way home.

September 23

We found out that it is a good thing we had cancelled our trip to MO when we did and now cancelled the trip to TX since Don is due for surgery on November 29. Guess it will be a winter in CO for us for a change.

September 3

Bev wasn't quite feeling up to loading the coach and taking off for MO, so we cancelled that part of our trip for this year and plan to leave in November.

August 1-31

August HikeThis was another month pretty much at home.  There was the annual Art & Craft Show here in the Village, which is always very interesting to see all the talent we have here!  Don again went hiking with the group from the Village - too strenuous for me!!

We did see a very pretty butterfly out on our Butterfly Bush one afternoon.

Butterfly

July 2-31

This was a month for Dr appointments, website work, and the usual: coffee on Wednesdays at the clubhouse, Lunch Bunch several Wednesdays with Don's classmates from high school, line dancing weekly at the clubhouse, etc.  Don started teaching a math class at CCU on the 21st.  He also went on a couple of hikes with a group from the Village.

Saturday, July 1

We were kind of lazy this morning. Did not get away from Moab until about 10:30 and had a beautiful day for driving; no wind. We got home about 12:30 and had the coach unloaded by 1:30 and put away by 2:00.

Friday, June 30Don - Moab Diner

Another change in plans for the day. We had quite a bit of wind and several showers this morning. It does not look good for making the loop drive and, after thinking about the road conditions, we decided not to go. Instead, we thought for a short time about going to the Needles Overlook about 40 miles south of Moab. However, the overlook is several miles of gravel road which does not sound good with all the wind and rain. So we stayed in town and wandered around downtown Moab. We also each had a large ice cream cone at the Moab Diner.  After Dinner, we played Cribbage again - I won two of the three games.

Wednesday, June 29

Wind, wind, and more wind. We had the windows open last night but closed them early this morning due to the wind. It was 81° at 7 this morning; looks to be a hot day! We had a few sprinkles off and on in the morning and it looked as if we were going to have some rain; overcast most of the day and, of course, wind.  We had planned to drive the La Sal Loop Road today but the weather doesn't look as if it is going to cooperate so we will try for tomorrow.  In the afternoon, we went to a local winery and purchased a couple of bottles of wine, a Riesling and a Cherry.  In the evening, We played Cribbage again and I won two of the three games.

Tuesday, June 28

Smoky Morning at Navajo Lake SPIt was quite hazy this morning; we wondered if it is smoke from the New Mexico fires. Last night we did get an email from Bev Romero. She said that there are fires around the Los Alamos area. They are close by in White Rock. They are not very many miles south of us so the haze sure could be from those fires. We believe that was a wise decision to get away from this part of Colorado. I can even smell the smoke and that is not good for our health!

We left about 9:30 and stopped at Wal-Mart in Cortez to get some Ice Cream, bananas and a few other items. Since it was lunch time we ate before continuing the trip to Moab. We arrived at the KOA in Moab about 3:15. Don had fun driving with the wind; it was basically from the south most of the way. It made driving not as nice as we would have liked but...

KOA - MoabThe KOA is OK but no lawn, all natural landscape of sagebrush and dirt. However, there were quite a number of trees throughout the park. I'm not sure that we will stay here again. The cable TV was OK but many channels were blurry. The internet was fine and we had a good strong signal. We turned off the AC later in the evening, but it was still quite warm inside the coach. We plan to stay two nights and probably three, driving home on Friday.

After dinner we played Cribbage again; three games but this time I won two and again, the third game was as close as possible.

Monday, June 27

Chris & Carol did put the canoe in the water this morning. A little later, we went to that area to get a picture of them but could not see them on the lake.

Meanwhile, we received a voice mail from Cookie. So we worked for the next couple of hours trying to contact them. Our cell service was so poor that we could not make a call. Finally, someone told us that we might get a Verizon signal at the top of a nearby mountain. We drove and did get through to Roy.

We went back to the lake to find Chris & Carol but they had already returned to their RV. We visited a bit and had lunch with them before they left for home. After our good byes, we went home; I read and Don played on the computer and took a nap. It was quite warm in the RV so we ran the AC until after sundown. We had planned to go to Pagosa Springs to check out the area but decided that it was not worth the 80 miles RT.

We have decided to leave tomorrow and go to Moab for 2-3 nights. We were not going to leave until Thursday but there is really nothing much to do around here; no TV, virtually no cell signal, no internet and few birds! Therefore, on Wednesday, we will try to take the LaSal Mtn Loop Road which is east of Moab. We have been wanting to do that for several years but never took the time out to do it. This seems to be the ideal time! Don looked up some information about it and it looks to be a very beautiful 60 mile trip; it should be a fun day. Also there is a five mile side trip to Warner Lake that appears to be a very beautiful piece of water.

After a supper of grilled pork chop and most of the remaining salads, we played a game of Sequence. It just is not as fun as when there are more than two players. So, Don brought the Cribbage board out and we played 3 games of which he won two games; the last was a very close finish!

Sunday, June 26

We headed for Chimney Rock about 8:45 for the 9:30 tour. We made it there with about 10 minutes to spare. The tour cost $15 for the two of us; $5 discount for our Golden Age card. The tour was in two sections, one fairly level 1/3 mile loop back to the parking lot and the other about 2/3 mile RT steep hike up to the Great House. I did the loop but did not want to do the 2nd half. It was good that I did not do the 2nd half as it was quite steep in places and they had to do some climbing over rocks on the trail. Besides that, they gained a bit of altitude by the time they reached the top at the Great House.

We enjoyed the tour and saw lots of ruins from the Pueblo People.  It is believed they burned their homes and kivas and went to Mesa Verde and to the high mesas in what is now northeastern Arizona.  Others went south into the Galisteo Basin along the Rio Chama and Rio Grande in what is now New Mexico.  The reason for their move is now really known.

Carol & Chris almost to the top Don, Chris & Carol - Chimney Rock Mountain View

It was about 12:30 when we finished the tour. Don and I split a Navaho Taco which was plenty for a lunch. They were having a display of Indian crafts and had a food booth where we got our lunch.

We ate a delicious dinner of salmon which Chris fixed and we supplied our left-over salads. At sundown the wind calmed down and the mosquitoes again started eating us so we went back to our coach.

 Saturday, June 25

It was quite cold last night; closed the windows and I grabbed a small blanket. When we made up the bed this morning, we added our heavy blue blanket. Tonight we will stay warm. The nights are supposed to be around 50°; quite a contrast with the daytime temps!

Chris & Carol came by about 10:30 and asked us to go to Chimney Rock with them. We stopped for picnic lunch sandwiches at the quick shop in Arboles. We found that you must take guided hikes to Chris & Carol's Campsite - Navajo State Parkreally see the area around Chimney Rock. However, we would have had to wait over an hour to take the next hike. We decided that we would come back tomorrow for the 9:30 hike when it would be somewhat cooler. Carol talked of a wetlands area that she would like to see; so we went back to the park and got our binoculars and walking sticks and started out to find it. Carol had gotten some information at the park office, but... Chris tried several roads in the area but no wetlands to be seen. Finally, we went to a quick shop in Ignacio (18 miles from the park) for information. They could not help so we went to the library and got good information. We finally found the "Wetlands" which did not really exist except in someone's mind. At the end of that road, we finally ate lunch in the truck. As we were about to leave, Carol couldn't find her Rx sunglasses. They searched high and low but could not find them in the truck. We then thought that she had laid them down in the library; back to Ignacio; library and Quick Shop. No one had them. On the trip back to our park, we all thought that the glasses must be in their RV. However, they were not in the RV. Bad! Good news - Carol found her glasses in a pocket on the side of her purse! Later, we went down the road to have supper with Chris & Carol. A friend of Chris came by and ate with us. He works as a freelancer in IT in Durango. It was a good evening until sundown when the mosquitoes decided to try us for dessert. We went home!

Friday, June 24

Our Campsite at Navajo State ParkWe got away from Moab at about 9:30 a.m. which is about normal for us. We went to Monticello and turned east toward Cortez. On the east side of Cortez, we found a Wal-Mart and went in for a few supplies. It was 12:45 by the time we got back to the coach so we ate lunch. It was getting quite hot again so we let the engine idle with the AC on. We then turned southeast at Durango and arrived at Navaho State park about 3:30. It was not near as hot as it had been in Moab and Cortez. Here we had no internet connection and almost no cell phone service although we do get a bit of signal now and then. It worked well enough that we were able to get our email on the Droid.

We got most everything set up about the time Chris and Carol arrived. We sat out in the shade of the coach and rested for the afternoon. We had decided that Chris & Carol would eat supper with us tonite and then eat with them tomorrow evening. It a bit windy while we ate but we managed to survive. We had a good visit with them. Later, we played Upwords on the computer.

Thursday, June 23

Moab 6-23-11Today, we started on our short trip to Navaho State Park. We are going to meet Chris & Carol there and spend a few days with them. We spent the morning and part of the afternoon packing the coach, final leaving about 1 pm. We stopped at the Coop to get diesel and propane. We had seen their price a few days ago at $3.869/gal and so we were surprised when it was only $3.749/gal. Nice! We stayed, as usual, at Portal RV Resort, this time in site 8. It was quite hot when we arrived so we ran the AC for several hours to get it cool inside. Later, we learned that the high temp was 100° and predicted to be 100° again tomorrow

Tuesday, April 12

We will be home now for awhile and have lots of work to get done! Am hoping to get to my quilting before too long, but we have the database to finish and I have had changes on a couple of websites and have one to completely redesign. So - quilting may have to wait awhile!!

Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3

The hackers were at it again both nights!! So frustrating!! We spent another couple of days trying to secure them. Hopefully, the last fix did it!!

Friday, April 1

We got up this morning to discover that 6 of our websites had been hacked, redirecting people to a site, where, if they don't have a good antivirus program, they will get a virus!! We managed, with Chris' help, to get them all back online and some more security set up!

Wednesday-Thursday, March 30-31

Thursday, Don had his first class of this session. He is teaching Microsoft Office again this time.

We finally got hooked up to DSL on Wednesday!! We had lots of work to get done: we are redesigning a database - a big job! and have website work to get done.

Sunday, March 27

Now it was time to get back to our "normal" life here in Fruita! We went to church and then to Fiesta Guadalajara for lunch before coming home to rest up and put a few more things away. Unfortunately, our DSL wasn't hooked up yet!

Wednesday-Saturday, March 23-26

Friday we got home before noon and had the coach all unloaded and parked before dark. Then the big job of putting everything away was left!! Loading and unloading are always exhausting - a lot more than they used to be a few years ago!!

Wierd cloud!Friday it was on to Moab. We saw some really strange clouds along this stretch of road. There is lots of nothing out there!!

On from Socorro to Gallup where we spent 2 nights for some R&R before heading on north. We got some work done and relaxed a bit. Didn't even take the car off the dolly. Wednesday night, we ate dinner at Denney's, which is adjacent to the KOA.

Tuesday, March 22

Another travel day; this time from Las Cruces to Socorro. It was still pretty windy so we decided not to go out to the wildlife area this trip. We stayed home and got some work done since we again had internet access.

Saturday-Monday, March 19-21

There was a high wind warning north of us, so we stayed one more day in Las Cruces! We went over to Walmart and actually found me a new pair of sandals which I have been looking and looking for!!

Bev at La PostaSunday, we went to church at first Baptist Church and then to Mesilla for lunch to La Posta. We first ate there when we lived in Las Cruces in 1958!! It is still just as good and they have wonderful sopapillas - big and fluffy!!! After lunch we wandered around the square where they had booths set up and were selling crafts. One of the other restaurants had a live band playing on their patio, so we stopped and enjoyed it for a little while before returning home.

Saturday, we drove 290 miles to Las Cruces. There is a very nice park there where we like to stay. Unfortunately, this stay, their WiFi was down and had been for quite some time.

Friday, March 18

Travel day number 2 from San Antonio to Ft. Stockton; a long day for us - 322 miles. We did not get to the park and set until about 7:30. It was an uneventful trip except getting caught in a squall under a thunderstorm. The wind whipped us around on the road and it sure was hard to keep the coach on the road. Fortunately, the storm did not last long. We ate dinner at the park's Roadrunner cafe. It was a good dinner of ribs, beans, and mashed potatoes, and nice not to have to cook.  We had a gorgeous sunset!

Thursday, March 17

We spent a frustrating afternoon at a picnic area south of San Antonio.  The coach was acting funny so we stopped and Don found that one of the batteries was low on water.  So he fixed that and it still didn’t seem quite right.  He found that one of the terminals wasn’t quite tight so fixed that.  Then it wouldn’t start at all!!  There was absolutely no power – no lights, no anything so far as the chassis was concerned – the lights inside worked OK.  So, we called our roadside service to find that they would only tow us 15 miles – we were over 20 miles south of San Antonio!  So, I started calling mobile repair services.  Thank goodness for a cell phone with internet !!  I finally found one that would come out to us, but it took them over an hour to get there after waiting about an hour for him to find a way to come as his truck was in for repair.  Well…it took them just a few minutes once they got there to get it fixed – they checked the batteries and all were fine, so one crawled underneath and found a loose wire to the starter!!!  So, we found an RV park (not much of one!!) in south SA to spend the night. We were exhausted by the time we got settled about 8 pm and Don was almost sick as he hadn’t eaten in too long!!  But, fortunately, I had a frozen bag dinner which cooked very quickly. What a start to our trip!!

Wednesday, March 16

Don made a Walmart run in the morning while I took a class on free motion quilting. I have been wanting to learn how to do this for a long time and enjoyed the class. It went well - I was able to do some of the designs easily and others were more of a challenge. Now to do some practicing when I get home!

Tuesday we spent most of the day working on a new database project. We had to say good-by to one of our good friends this morning - they sold their camper so won't be back in the park next season, but hope to get a condo in town. We miss them already! We had out last line dancing session in the afternoon and had about 12 in attendance. A fun time no matter how large the group! We played bingo in the evening - no winnings!

Monday, March 14

I played my last game of bridge before we leave. We only had 1 table this time - too many people have left!! We had a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, so I didn't have to cook - again !! After that, we played dime bingo and Don actually won one game! Now we have dines for next fall!

Sunday, March 13

After church, we went to Moby Dick's and split a seafood platter; plenty for both of us and very yummy - our last seafood dinner out before we leave. Another good day with line dancing. We had dozen or so dancers and all had a fun time. As usual, we had Ice Cream Social in the evening. I Stayed to play a last game of Pass-the-Trash.

Thursday, March 10

Alligator in Aransas Wildlife ReserveWe took a picnic lunch and went up to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge to do some birdwatching. We stopped at the Visitor's Center, wandered around it and bought me a beautiful shirt with many bird pictures on it. I wanted some earrings, but they didn't have the ones I wanted. Then we wandered throughout the park including the 16 mile auto tour. We did see a number of birds (17 different species) as well as a very large alligator sunning himself on the bank. Glad he was across the pond from us!

Wednesday, March 9

Today we made a Walmart run to get antibiotics for our sinus infections. We had spaghetti dinner in the rec hall (yeah! no cooking again!!) After that we played Sequence with Bev & Bob. Tuesday, in the afternoon we had line dancing - about 20 there this time, and bingo in the evening.

Monday, March 7

Today was bridge in the afternoon and then a Mardi Gras parade through the park, dinner and dance in the rec hall with Tumble Dry Low. We will miss this band when we go home!

Saturday, March 5

This has been a fairly quiet week. Sunday was line dancing, ice cream and we played Sequence with Bev & Bob in the evening - girls won!! Monday we had a potluck dinner, Tuesday was line dancing, Wednesday was the Ladies' Luncheon and Fashion show - always a good time. Don has been fighting sinus problems all week and about Friday mine started stopping up. Now we are both coughing and sniffling!!  We did go down to the jetty a time or two for birdwatching. This morning we enjoyed the craft show here in the park.  We have many very talented people!!

Saturday, February 26

Friday afternoon I played bridge. In the evening we had burgers in the rec hall and then a dance with our favorite band, Tumble Dry Low. Lots of fun!!  Today was the Whooping Crane Festival here in Port A so we went down to the trade show but were disappointed to find fewer booths than before and the items I wanted were not there!  We did go down to the jetty and found a new bird!  The little gull.  Of course, if there hadn't been other birdwatchers there, we probably wouldn't have seen them.

Tuesday, February 22

We went to Pelican's Landing with friends to have their garlic fish special. We love their garlic fish and decided we had better get there for it before the time is gone and we miss it!! We had a large group in line dancing again this afternoon. In the evening I went to Bingo, but Don wasn't feeling very good so he stayed home to rest up from the busy day.

Saturday, February 19

This evening was the customer Appreciation dinner/dance. Delicious dinner but way too crowded for much dancing!!

Thursday, February 17

This morning we had a reception for the wood carvers who won several ribbons in a local competition. Their pieces were awesome! Also on display were quilts, Swedish weaving, and beading projects. Several quilters used the Eleanor Burns "Day & Night pattern and it was neat to see how different the quilts turned out!

Saturday, February 12

SpoonbillWhooping Crane FamilyFor my birthday, we went to Fulton/Rockport/Lamar birdwatching and had lunch at charlotte Plummers. There weren't a lot of birds along the bay in Rockport this time. However up along the bay in Lamar we saw lots of critters including this beautiful roseatte Spoonbill! We also saw the Whooping Crane family in the field!

We got home in time to play bingo in the evening - didn't win again!!

Friday, February 11

My dashboard gardenMy Christmas Cactus is blooming just as my bougainvillea is finishing its blooming. Here is a picture of my dashboard garden.

Bev - 3rd place in Pioneer Chili Cook-off

This afternoon is bridge - last time we actually had 4 tables. There seem to be quite a few bridge players here this year. Tonight is hamburger night in the rec center and then we are going to play Mexican Train with Bob & Bev.

There were 10 entries in the chili cook-off Wednesday night and I won 3rd place! There was lots of good chili this evening and we had to try several of them!! After supper, we played a few hands of bridge.

Tuesday, February 8

This is a busy week: yesterday afternoon was bridge (I actually won the high score this week instead of the low score as I did the last two times!), then potluck supper, then dime bingo. Today is line dancing this afternoon and bingo tonight. Tomorrow is quilting, then I have to make chili for the cookoff and chili supper. Friday is burger night and Saturday Bingo.

Sunday afternoon after church and a wonderful lunch at Moby Dick's, we went down and sat on the beach for an hour or so - it was a beautiful day! We didn't have line dancing or ice cream in the rec center because of the Super Bowl Party so we spent more time down at the water!

Wednesday, February 2

Scrapbook Snowman block
We haven't had any winnings lately at bingo or dime bingo :( But, it is fun trying!! Line dancing is going well - had 21 Tuesday and it is good to see several men in the class!!

I finished my "Scrapbook Snowman Block" for the raffle quilt.  I'm not sure how much I like it but wanted to do something with the cute snowman fabric I had and this is what I came up with.

We have had a cold front come down here and the low's have been in the upper 20's and highs in the low 40's. Too Cold!!! It is due to stay that way for the next few days. and - we thought this winter was supposed to be warmer than last year!! At least - it has been drier!

Wednesday, January 26

Day & Night QuiltI finished the top to the small quilt I have been working on - it is from Eleanor Burns' Day & Night book and several gals have made quilts with this pattern - it is neat to see how different they look with the different fabrics! I also started on my snowman block for the raffle quilt.

Saturday, January 22

We had Bob & Bev over this evening for flautas and a game of Sequence. The guys won this evening 5-3!

Thursday, January 20

The beach 1-22-11

We went down to the beach today - the waves were very small compared to what we have been having lately. A beautiful day in paradise!!

Wednesday, January 19

Our weeks are quite busy: Sundays we go to church, out to lunch, then in the afternoon it is line dancing (we had 50 dancers this week!), in the evening it is ice cream social and then games. Monday afternoons it is bridge and every other week we have potluck supper. Beutiful sunset 1-16-11In the evening it is time for dime bingo. Tuesdays are free until line dancing at 3 and bingo at 7. Wednesdays I go to quilting in the afternoon. Thursdays are pretty free - this week we had a dance with Tumble Dry Low band playing - lots of fun! Fridays it's time for an afternoon of bridge and every other week we have burgers in the clubhouse with games afterward. Saturdays are free until 7 when it is time again for bingo.

We had a gorgeous sunset on the 16th!!

Friday, January 14

This was a very busy day! In the morning, I took a beading class and made a very pretty bracelet. i said last year that I was going to make time this year to do this! it was fun and I love my bracelet! The only problem is that I used a magnetic fastener which seems quite tight, but somehow I managed to have it fall off twice that day!!

In the afternoon, it was time for bridge - we had a big group this time; 5 tables!! In the evening it was burgers over in the rec center and then we played Sequence with Bev & Bob and the girls won 4-3!!!

Thursday, January 13

First thing this morning, we had to pack up and go about 2 blocks to get propane. The nights have been quite cool (as well as some of the days) and we were running too low! Then it was time for our Walmart and ban run - our cupboard was getting bare! In the evening we had a sock hop with recordings from "way back when." It was fun and several were dressed as we did back in the 50's and 60's.

Line dancers at the sock hop sock hop sock hop

Wednesday, January 12

Some of the Quilting gals helping me with my quilt layoutI went to the rec center for quilting group this morning and worked over there most of the day while Don worked/played on the computer. I got quite a bit done on my new project. I finished the main squares and am now working on the leftover pieces to make a smaller quilt.

In the evening, we went to the rec center to hear the Alaska String Band gospel Singers, a family group that was very enjoyable.

Monday, January 10 - Tuesday, January 11

Tuesday we had a small group this time for line dancing. After supper, it was bingo - people around us won but we didn't! But, it was fun trying!!

Monday, I played bridge in the afternoon followed by a potluck supper and dime bingo (didn't win - again!)

Sunday, January 9

About 4:30 this morning, we had a real Texas rainstorm! It was almost continuous lightening, heavy rain and strong wind. Fortunately we suffered no damage - the coach and car got a good rinsing with fresh water. We did get a small leak somewhere over the dashboard - almost watered my flowers sitting up there!! We are sure glad that we had at least part of the additional walkway installed yesterday. We did not have to walk in the wet grass and the stickers. After church today, we tried a different restaurant- Beach Station. Quite small and not fast service but the flounder basket was very good and plenty of it. We had 19 at line dancing this afternoon - a good group. We played pass-the-trash after ice cream.

Friday, January 7 - Saturday, January 8

BeforeAfterBob Romero came over to help Don lay our pavers. They got quite a bit done - at least so we can get in and out of the coach without walking on the grass!! It looks so much better! In the evening we played bingo.

Friday morning we got some work done and then played bridge in the afternoon and in the evening we played Sequence with Romeros and the girls won 4 to 3!!

Thursday, January 6

We are having a problem with the GFI in the bathroom, so Don replaced it today, thinking maybe it had worn out. But - it still pops so now he has the job of trying to find out what is causing it!!  After supper, I went over to the rec center to play cards with the girls for awhile.

Wednesday, January 5

Roseate SpoonbillsWhistling DucksThis was the quilting group over at the rec center and I started on a new quilt. I had some Christmas fabric that I brought with me and will just make a small wall hanging or table topper. I spent most of the day over there working on that - it is going to be very pretty!

Don went with a neighbor and his truck to Lowe's and got some pavers to widen our drive so we don't have to walk on the grass to get into the coach. So now, he has work to do!! There were several Roseate Spoonbills in the lake by the rec center today - they are so pretty!! Also, lots of Whistling Ducks - they are so funny!! After supper we went over and played 5 Crowns with some friends in the rec center.

Monday-Tuesday, January 3-4

Monday, we spent the day getting a few things done here at home and then went to dime bingo in the evening.

Tuesday was another day at home - I was trying to get the new Quicken to make a year-end copy and it wasn't working right, so spent a lot of time with Intel trying to get it figured out. It ended up with them saying that it has a known bug and they are working on it!! We had line dancing in the afternoon with 10 there this time. In the evening I went to bingo while Don stayed home and rested!!

Sunday, January 2

After church we went to Taqueria San Juan for lunch. I tried something new - shrimp enchiladas. They were very good but quite hot!! In the afternoon, we had line dancing and had 8 there besides us. We had a good time and got our exercise in for the day! In the evening it was time for ice cream social in the rec center with a game of Pass the Trash afterward.

Saturday, January 1

We spent a pretty quiet day, resting up from last night's party. We did go play bingo in the evening - but no winnings this time!!
